No offense, but it's not even worth replying to. I've never seen so much BS within a single post for quite a while now. So buying Unity-based games is always a lottery where you have 90% chance of losing. So yes, there are some competently coded games on Unity, but 90% of them aren't. Unity has its specific problems a dev needs to know about and spend extra effort to avoid a problem, but thats true for any engine out there. I think people reasoning this way are just repeating what they have sucked up on some reddit post and now jumped on that bandwaggon. ![]() Im just saying i dont see any reason to avoid a title because of the Unity Engine and i have yet to hear any specific problems to nail down on the use of Unity. Not every engine is also fine to be used for any game type (see Frostbyte Engine used for stuff it cant handle like Mass Effect). ![]() Mind, im not saying that its wrong that there are specific problems when it comes to an engine. I buy games no matter the engine and couldnt nail down and specific issues with Unity games. The Unity Engine is not responsible for bad optimization, thats up to the developer.īut ofcourse a good engine makes it easier to avoid potential problems. The Unreal Engine might provide fancy things no one uses without the knowledge to do so and the Unity Engine might have hurdles to tackle but the developer can do so. I also cant recall anyone having specific problems with Unity that cause a bad game.īesides, every engine has its problems and depends on the skills of the person sitting infront of the PC to make use of it. Honestly though, thats far of the reason and also not the entire truth. While there are rare exceptions and some (very few) developers indeed have overcome the engine's flaws (Dyson Sphere Program is the latest exmple), the majority of them can't (Phantom Brigade is also the latest exmple). Whilst unity does have problems (actually something that can be said of ALL game engines) there isn't anything inherently bad about it.Īctually, Unity has some very serious problems with optimization and physics, at least in full-3D games. People like to think they know more than they actually do and/or like to jump on the bandwagon and say "It's because of the game engine". Unity gets hate because a lot of bad games have been made by new/bad developers because it's free. Scenes are where you work with content in Unity. My guess is that there is no actual reason. They are assets that contain all or part of a game or application. For example, you might build a simple game in a single scene, while for a more complex game, you might use one scene per level, each with its own environments, characters, obstacles, decorations, and UI (User Interface) Allows a user to interact with your application. Unity currently supports three UI systems. You can create any number of scenes in a project. When you create a new project and open it for the first time, Unity opens a sample scene that contains only a Camera A component which creates an image of a particular viewpoint in your scene. The output is either drawn to the screen or captured as a texture. The default Unity sample scene, which contains a Main Camera and a directional Lightįor information about working with scenes, see Creating, loading, and saving scenes. ![]() Unity uses scene templates to create new scenes. Scene templates are assets that are stored in a project. They are similar to scenes, but are designed to be copied rather than used directly.įor information about creating and using scene templates, see Scene templates. The New Scene dialog opens when you create a new scene from the File menu: ( File > New Scene) or the Ctrl/Cmd + n shortcut. Use it to create new scenes from specific scene templates in your project, and get information about existing templates.Search field: find available scene templates by name.
